On November 21st, 2023, Techtronic Industries Vietnam (TTI Vietnam) was recognized as one of 10 firms demonstrating exemplary dedication to ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) activities at the 2023 AmCham Vietnam ESG Impact Showcase.

AmCham Vietnam ESG Impact Showcase is a nomination hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AmCham) in HCMC at its traditional “Giving Thanks" Dinner to honor and recognize AmCham members who have demonstrated significant ESG impact in Vietnam in 2023. At the Dinner, TTI was named among the other 9 companies that not only deliver economic success and financial sustainability but also integrate ESG as part of long-term business strategy, contributing to nurturing an ecosystem for responsible business practices in Vietnam. The recognition solidifies Techtronic Industries’ dedication to contributing to Vietnam community through its unwavering commitment to ESG principles. 

Ms. Susan Burns, U.S. Consul General, congratulated and recognized the significant contributions of companies in the American business community in Ho Chi Minh City to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices. She also shared that: "The ESG Impact Awards are an opportunity to celebrate companies that have made a positive impact in Vietnam and to demonstrate that businesses can thrive by doing good."

Upholding the leading global cordless power tools company in Vietnam with ESG Excellence

Following the Vietnamese sustainable development commitment with Sustainable Development Goals, Techtronic Industries Vietnam (TTI Vietnam) has been integrating ESG values across its strategy and decision-making process, which resulted in significant value creation for all stakeholders through its four strategic drivers: Powerful Brands, Innovative Products, Exceptional People and Operational Excellence.

TTI’s determination to lead the industry in sustainability stems from the passion for creating breakthrough products that protect people, minimize environmental impact, and make a positive influence in the communities it operates. In Vietnam, the company places great emphasis on fostering a strategy that prioritizes the development of the bond between the environment and the community. The strategy is in line with TTI's decarbonization global strategy backed by the commitment to Science-Based Target Initiatives (SBTi) to reach the emission reduction target of 60% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG Emission by 2030.

At the Milwaukee factory, we are committed to producing innovative cordless products that are of high performance and reliable, while minimizing environmental and community impacts. We have been implementing several initiatives such as responsible resource and material utilization, efficient waste management, and the elimination of generated waste. This enables us to reduce the use of resources for waste treatment in our operations and contributes to the company's global commitment to reducing carbon emissions”, Mr. Lee Hon Kay, Vice President of Milwaukee Vietnam (Asia) Operations said.

Commencing operations in Vietnam since August 2018, TTI Vietnam has been an active player in the industry, proven by its flagship brand – Milwaukee, with the Milwaukee Heavy-Duty Center in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, a reputable employer that is fostering 10,000 Vietnamese employees, and a socially conscious business with a practical ESG framework. TTI initiatives focus on decarbonization, responsibility of resources and materials use in partnership with local suppliers, investment and engagement to community.  TTI's commitment to decarbonizing manufacturing operations is exemplified by the current construction of LEED Certified with energy-efficient designed, state-of-the-art manufacturing sites at Saigon Hi-Tech Park.

In contributing to community, since 2019, TTI Vietnam has collaborated with its partner Habitat for Humanity to build WASH facilities to help underprivileged communities in Tien Giang, Kien Giang, and Thai Nguyen. The 2020- 2021 project in Go Cong – Tien Giang benefitted to 169 households and 500 students, while the 2022-2023 project in Kien Giang & Thai Nguyen is expected to equip 100 families with new houses and WASH facilities, over 150 students will enjoy new latrine. Training workshops and communication campaigns under the program will help almost 1580 people increase their knowledge and skills on building a safe house and safeguarding their families’ hygiene and health.

One of the backbones contributing to Techtronic Industries ESG success lies in its excellence in being environmentally conscious and a roof of people investment and development. TTI is fostering 10,000 employees in manufacturing facilities and offices across the nation. The company puts its heart into nurturing the talent within the internal and surrounding communities. In keeping its international legacy, TTI has implemented the Leadership Development Program since 2022 in Vietnam to nurture the next generation of talents, providing recent graduates with opportunities to explore their potential and excel in specialized knowledge and essential skills within the organization.

Embarking in educating the local talents, TTI joined hands with AmCham HCMC & Danang for the AmCham Women in Engineering Scholarship program for two consecutive years to give scholarships to 130 female students at 12 institutions in Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, and Dong Nai to study and explore STEM subjects for a better future. In addition to the journey, TTI supported 25 young talents having chances to bring their start-up business ideas to reality at the German Business Association's Business Challenge Competition - Season IV, 2023.
